Black Hills Corp. announced Tuesday it has executed definitive agreements to provide electric service to a planned Google data center in Cheyenne, Wyoming, with contract terms extending through 2048. The South Dakota-based utility, traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker BKH, said the agreements took effect Sept. 30, 2026.
The deal comprises two separate contracts: a Large Power Contract Services Agreement and a Generation Facilities Agreement. Together, the agreements formalize the utility's role in powering what would be a significant addition to Wyoming's growing technology infrastructure footprint.

Cheyenne has emerged as an increasingly attractive hub for large-scale data center development, with operators drawn by the state's relatively low electricity costs, available land, and cooler climate that can reduce cooling expenses. Google's planned facility would add to a pattern of hyperscale technology investment in the Mountain West region.
The 22-year contract horizon signals a substantial, long-range commitment for Black Hills Corp., which provides natural gas and electric utilities across several western and midwestern states. Agreements of this duration with major technology companies are widely viewed by analysts as stable, creditworthy additions to a utility's customer base, offering revenue visibility well into the future.
