Kraken Parent Payward Ties Up With Singapore Gulf Bank for Round-the-Clock Settlement
Payward integrates SGB Net to enable 24/7 instant settlement for institutional clients across Asia and the Gulf region.
Payward, the parent company of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, has forged a partnership with Singapore Gulf Bank to deliver around-the-clock settlement capabilities to institutional digital asset markets in Asia and the Gulf region. The integration centers on SGB Net, the bank's real-time clearing network, which allows participating institutions to finalize transactions at any hour without waiting for traditional banking windows.
The agreement addresses a long-standing friction point in institutional crypto trading: the mismatch between digital asset markets that never close and legacy settlement infrastructure tied to business-day cycles. By connecting to SGB Net, Payward's institutional clients gain the ability to move funds and settle positions in real time, a capability that can reduce counterparty risk and free up capital that would otherwise sit idle overnight or across weekends.

As part of the arrangement, Singapore Gulf Bank will also onboard Kraken Prime — Kraken's institutional brokerage arm — as an additional source of digital asset liquidity. That step is expected to deepen the pool of tradable assets available through SGB's network and expand the options available to banks, funds, and other large-scale participants operating across the two regions.
The partnership reflects a broader push by regulated financial institutions and crypto-native firms to build shared infrastructure that meets the operational standards demanded by institutional money. Asia and the Gulf have emerged as particularly active corridors for digital asset flows, with regulators in both regions moving to establish clearer frameworks for institutional participation. Payward's move to anchor settlement capabilities in those markets through a licensed banking partner signals continued momentum toward mainstream institutional adoption.
